Building Alpha
Proxima's demonstration stellarator Alpha is designed to achieve net energy gain (Q>1) from a stellarator plasma for the first time. Alpha will validate the manufacturing methods, materials, and systems that will define future stellarator power plants.
Alpha will be built in partnership with the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) in Munich, Germany, and is on track to become operational in the early 2030s.
